What is "the self?"

The self

is the subject of consciousness. Existence is always defined by relation, and we are of course a part of all that is. So indeed, we share a relation with all that is, and thus, our consciousness is the subject of all that is. Now, "nothing-but-consciousness must be experienced in order to be truly understood."

This is a great poll, and I will add that I tend to think of consciousness as fractions of a whole. Or, the spiritual belief in oneness.

As for the self emerging from the brain ... "you don't claim complete understanding of the brain, do you? The brain is not that simple! Didn't somebody say that if the brain were so simple that we could understand it, then we would be so simple that we couldn't?"

Consciousness

I believe we are all a physical representation of our consciousness. As we are in this third dimensional space-time experience, we learn and experience life so we can be reawakened to our conscious self. We learn through the hard and love it all. The more you are conscious of, the more you can experience. Be open to it all and it all will be you!
