MAKING BIOCHAR: with Peter Hirst of New England Biochar

The process of turning wood to an active biochar, to be added to soil or compost, is shown in detail. Peter Hirst explains, "Now, the old fashioned way of doing this, which is to build a big mound and cover it with mud or clay, and to restrict the air flow as to make it burn very slow and at a low temperature. Just about the worst kind of pollution there is, a lot of long-chain hydrocarbons, tars, ash, carbon soot, it is really a nasty way to make charcoal. When we do it this way where we separate the fire from the char feed stock we get a clean hot flame, which reduces all of the volaties to al little bit of carbon dioxide and a lot of water vapor.".

A program "to save America's Environment and Economy one region at a time."

The Venus Project

The Venus Project shows how, "Monetary-ism, so to speak, is the true mechanism that guides the interests of all the countries on the planet. The most aggressive, and hence the most dominant variation of this monetary-ism is the, free enterprise system. The fundamental perspective, as put forth by early free market economists, like Adam Smith, is that self interest and competition leads to social prosperity, as the act of competition creates incentive, which motivates people to persevere...".

"Governments try to perpetuate that which keeps them in power. People are not elected to political office to change things. They are put there to keep things the way they are. So you see, the basis of corruption is in our society. Let me make it clear, all nations are basically corrupt, cause they tend to uphold existing institutions. I don't mean to uphold or down grade all nations, but communism, socialism, fascism, the free enterprise system, and all other sub-cultures, are the same. They all are basically corrupt." - Jacque Fresco

Jim Channon shares, "At the core of shifting ourselves back into the land, honoring our rural habitat, keeping our local youth here; we have to find a way for high school graduates to move on a piece of land, be able to buy a piece of land, and be able to actually build on it with a reasonable set of materials, and 300,000 dollars a house is not an option." Jim Channon provides a structured presentation of possible ways of utilizing your land to the best of its ability, by incorporating all types of methods from ancient civilizations to modern permaculture.
